New Drivers for OS X Lion Users Printing to Canon Laser Printers and Multi Function Devices

Thank you for choosing Canon products.

We would like to make an early announcement that the official Canon Printer Driver which supports OS X Lion will be released in November 2011.

Currently, majority of the latest drivers for Mac OS X 10.6 available for download in our website are capable of printing with OS X Lion, albeit with certain restrictions (please refer below).

We apologise for the inconvenience and would like to suggest a temporary workaround to get your printer to print with OS X Lion leading up to the November release.

[How to print from OS X Lion to imageRUNNER, imageRUNNER COLOUR, imageRUNNER ADVANCE, imagePRESS, imageCLASS and LASER SHOT products]

Step 1: Download latest drivers for Mac OS X 10.6 from our website after upgrading to OS X Lion.
Step 2: Install / Re-Install the downloaded driver (even if you have previously installed one prior to the upgrade to OS X Lion)

When printing from the standard "TextEdit" or "Preview" application in OS X Lion, the following features are not available:

    • Printer Information
    • Inbox Name information in Store Function
    • Overlay Printing including Clear Toner
    •  Paper information in Paper Type Setting dialog
    • Job Accounting
    •  FAX Cover Sheet
    • FAX Address Book

In case of printing from OS X Lion before installing with our latest drivers, an issue may occur when some of our older printer drivers or FAX drivers are used.

We would hence like to inform our valued customers on OS X Lion neither to install any of the drivers listed below nor to attempt to print using them.

If you unintentionally used such drivers to print, the following issue may occur.

When printing from the standard "TextEdit" or "Preview" application in OS X Lion, no printout is generated.

Additionally, an error log is continuously logged into "system.log" until the power of the Mac device is turned OFF.

This logging activity consumes hard disk space, and ultimately causes the hard disk to become full, and may affect subsequent login attempts.
