My name is Pang Kok Wei, I’m a macro photographer from Kuala Lumpur. I started my journey in macro photography in 2013, and since then, I have been continuously improving my skills and setup. I always tell people that I’m still learning, and I hope to keep getting better and not stop where I am now.
I feel fortunate to live in Malaysia, a rainforest nation that offers a plethora of unique subjects to photograph. I often explore the forest to discover these subjects, and sometimes, I even preserve overseas insects that can’t be found in Malaysia. Most of my photos are taken in the wild, and I use studio lighting to create special effects for some larger subjects.
Over the years, Pang Way has assembled an exceptional portfolio of close-up and macro photography, particularly revealing the enchanting beauty and the crucial role of insects. His work has been featured in the multiple pages of prestigious local and foreign publications and media, including Hamilton de Holanda (Holland), DIE ZEIT (German), Group Magazine (Brazil), Tengku Hassanal Wildlife Reserve, etc.
Pang Way has received numerous awards, including the esteemed HIPA Merit Award 2022, which celebrates his unparalleled talent for uncovering the beauty and wonder of the insect realm.
