Canon Electronics Malaysia (CEM) was established on December 1, 1989 and is 100 percent owned by Canon Electronics Inc. (Japan). It has one factory operating in Prai, Penang.
CEM manufactures 4 Channels Auto Reverse magnetic heads for car stereos, magnetic heads for APS cameras, shutter units for cameras and iris galvanometers for VTR cameras, among the many products that are being manufactured in Malaysia.
These products are then shipped worldwide to its international customers, among them are Philips/Clarion (Japan), Clarion (Taiwan), Clarion (Singapore), Clarion (HK), Matsushita Denki, Matsushita Tsuko, Sony, Kodak, Mitsubishi Electric, Pioneer, Minolta, Fuji, Kyocera, Canon Opto, Canon Taiwan and Canon Zhuhai.
In February 1996, Canon Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was awarded the prestigious ISO9002 certificate acknowledging its achievements in this sector.
