SHAH ALAM, 9 May 2025 - Canon, a global leader in imaging and innovation, has been honoured with the Selangor–Japan Investor Appreciation Award at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. Presented by His Royal Highness The Crown Prince of Selangor, the award recognises Canon’s sustained contribution to Selangor’s economic development and its enduring commitment to strengthening Malaysia–Japan relations.
Canon has maintained a strong and growing presence in Selangor and across Malaysia since the 1980s through a network of Canon Group companies—including Canon Marketing, Canon Machinery, Canon Medical, Canon Opto, Canon MailCom, and Canon Electronics Malaysia. Together, these entities contribute to local job creation, technology transfer, community engagement, and long-term industrial growth, while upholding the Canon Group’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
“We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition from the Selangor State Government,” said Mr. Hideki Ozawa, Executive Vice President of Canon Inc. and Chief Representative of Canon Asia Group. “Guided by our Kyosei philosophy of living and working together for the common good, Canon remains committed to contributing meaningfully to society, not just through business, but through sustainability and partnerships that uplift communities. Selangor has been, and continues to be, a strategic hub for our operations and growth in Malaysia.”

Canon’s contribution to Selangor and beyond goes beyond business performance. Across the Canon Group, the company has championed meaningful environmental and social initiatives. One key initiative is the One Canon One Tree campaign, which began in 2016 with tree-planting efforts in Selangor. In 2023, the campaign expanded nationwide while continuing efforts in Selangor. Its most recent milestone involved the planting of 500 trees at Paya Indah Wetlands in Dengkil, in collaboration with the Selangor Department of Environment and youth groups. To date, the program has seen more than 9,000 trees planted across Malaysia to support biodiversity and green spaces.
Canon places strong emphasis on environmental education and has long been a strategic partner of the Department of Environment Selangor in promoting environmental awareness. In conjunction with the Selangor Earth Day Celebration, Canon launched the Children’s Environmental Activity Book titled “A Kid’s Guide to Save Planet Earth”, developed in collaboration with renowned Malaysian author and illustrator Nor Azhar Ishak. The book aims to instil eco-awareness among primary school students and nurture lifelong environmental responsibility.
Canon Marketing Malaysia, the brand’s lead sales and marketing arm in the country, has been a proud recipient of the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards for seven consecutive years. This recognition underscores Canon’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, community upliftment, and meaningful employee engagement through long-term CSR initiatives.
This recognition at Expo 2025 Osaka underscores the Canon Group’s collective contribution to Malaysia’s growth, reaffirming its ongoing mission to create lasting value in every community it serves.
